A US-based lawyer was arrested upon arrival at an airport in Turkey on Wednesday evening, April 30, 2026, in connection with an ongoing legal dispute involving an alleged breach of contract tied to a $4.5 million crude oil deal.
According to authorities, the lawyer was detained at approximately 5:30 PM local time shortly after landing in the country. The arrest stems from a case involving his client, identified as Mr. Anton, who, along with the lawyer, had previously failed to appear in court as required by Turkish legal authorities.
The dispute centers on an agreement with Ofisi International Oil PSC, a Turkish oil company, which claims that only half of the agreed crude oil shipment was delivered despite full payment being made. The alleged failure to fulfill the contract obligations prompted legal action and subsequent summons for both Mr. Anton and his legal representative.
